Smith Jones has worked in supporting The Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) for many years. With APIL accreditations for each branch and with individuals holding APIL Fellow and Senior Litigator status Smith Jones and APIL share a common goal to protect the rights of people injured through no fault of their own.
APIL offer a wealth of training to their members, and draw upon the expertise of individuals and member companies to offer this specialist training.
This week, APIL launched ‘The Serious Injury Guide’ which is aimed at achieving a collaborative process between claimant Solicitors (such as Smith Jones) and defendant representatives, in catastrophic claims where damages are over £250,000 (excluding clinical negligence and asbestos related disease claims).
Smith Jones is one of a select few firms that have supported this Guide during its creation and are one of the first signatories to it, as an APIL Executive Committee member, Smith Jones Solicitor Brett Dixon has also been involved in approving the guide’s contents. With the support of Smith Jones, Brett is involved in many aspects of APIL’s campaigning regularly speaking at conferences and training events, drawing upon the combined specialist experience.
The Serious Injury Guide is the result of many years of collaborative work between APIL, FOIL (Forum of Insurance Lawyers) and a number of major insurers. Its aim is to enable claimant and defendant representatives to follow a process which will lead to the most positive outcomes for those seriously injured.
