In January 2016 I was appointed as a member of the Civil Procedure Rule Committee (CPRC). The committee was set up under the Civil Procedure Act 1997 to make rules of court for the Civil Division of the Court of Appeal, the High Court and the County Court in England and Wales. The membership is drawn from the leading solicitors, barristers, and judges in England and Wales.
The work is extremely varied and the committee is responsible for the regular updates that are made to the Civil Procedure Rules that take place twice a year in April and October. Each committee member is there to bring their experience and knowledge from the work they do with their clients, or in the case of some members as judges, to inform and improve the work the committee does.
It is very important for our clients that the court system which they use is effective and efficient. My role on the CPRC is a direct reflection of the commitment that Smith Jones has to achieving the best we can for all our clients.
