I have been working at Smith Jones in Burnley as a Litigation Executive since 2014. Working in the portal team dealing with low value personal injury claims, I now act as the first point of contact for many new clients. Throughout my time at Smith Jones, I have dealt with claims involving injuries caused by animals, holiday sickness claims and slips, trips and falls.

Testimonials/What your colleagues say about you?

“Client focused and straightforward, Chris is a great colleague and is always willing to provide an alternative opinion on a case.” – Gareth Milburn

“Chris is a great person to work with, he has a good balance of humour and focus, and is always on hand to help out if needed. He has a great way with his clients, making the claims process as clear and straightforward as possible for them.” – Joanne Latham

Why did you choose to practice personal injury law?

After working in a supermarket for over a decade, I decided that a change of career was needed. On coming to Smith Jones, I found the role to be more exciting and more fulfilling than my previous jobs.

In personal injury, I got the chance to actually help people who had sustained life-changing injuries and make a difference to their lives. Some cases can be more complicated than others, but I enjoy cases where a bit more investigation is required to determine who the defendant is and where liability lies.

What do you most enjoy about working at Smith Jones Solicitors?

Following years of working into the early hours of the morning, it’s great as a father to be offered flexible working hours, as it allows me to spend time with my family. In this way Smith Jones allows me to have a better work/life balance.

On top my flexible working arrangement, they have also given me the chance to develop essential skills and work towards a career. Smith Jones recognise the talent of it’s employees and invest in that talent, allowing all employees to become experienced and well-rounded individuals.

What do you like to do outside work?

Outside of work, my time is spent with my family, including two lovely daughters. When I do get the chance to indulge in any hobbies, I enjoy restoring musical instruments to their former condition. Previously, my friends and I were part of a band, and as such I own and play a few instruments including a guitar, a bass guitar and a mandolin.

Further, I also travel all over the country to take part in autotesting events, which involve a series of tests which measure precision driving skill. I also previously held an advanced driving licence, which has since expired, and so I am in an ideal place to advise those who have suffered personal injury as a result of a road traffic accident.
