Legal Team at Smith Jones

Biography

I came to Smith Jones Solicitors in 2016 and later qualified as a solicitor in March 2018. Drawing upon a wealth of experience, I am able to assist those who have been involved in an accident that wasn’t their fault.

Working as a solicitor in the legal team, I enjoy helping people with all kinds of claims, but particularly employer’s liability claims. Employers always deny liability, and I enjoy the challenge of proving them wrong and getting the best results for my client.

What is the most satisfying thing about your role?

After working with some of the senior solicitors here, I enjoy having my own cases and being able to help people as their primary contact.

Interacting with people in my role as a solicitor, is so different to my interaction when I was a paralegal. Not only do I get to interact with people from the start of the claim to the finish, but I get to see the difference I am making to their lives first-hand.

There may be times when the clients get frustrated, but you have to take it with a pinch of salt. It’s the situation that most people are angry about, and I am more than happy to be the reassuring voice they need at such a turbulent time. Because for me, it’s not the claim that makes my role so enjoyable, it’s the client.

What do you most enjoy about working at Smith Jones Solicitors?

Smith Jones has such a variety of people that you can learn from. From paralegal to solicitor, I have had access to top solicitors like Paul Darlington, Dermot Woodhead, Paul Smith – which you just wouldn’t get at other firms. In my studies and training, they helped me to realise that there isn’t always a right answer, and that’s not a bad thing.

Everyone is given a chance to display their skills and talents at Smith Jones, and that’s the main reason I love working there.

What do you like to do outside work?

Staying active is a great way to relieve stress at the end of a long day, and so I frequently go to the gym and engage in sporty activities.

Born in Burnley and raised to be a football fan, it comes as no surprise that my Dad’s proudest moment was the first time he saw me in a Burnley kit.

I also enjoy travelling, seeing new countries and immersing myself in the culture. If I could pick anywhere to return to it would be Barcelona, it’s relaxing and the food is good – it’s just a nice place to go.
